Physical and chemical properties: It is colorless transparent oily liquid with certain hygroscopicity and slight odor. It is mutually dissolvable with water, alcohols, esters, ethers, ketones and aromatic hydrocarbons, and slightly soluble in n-alkanes and cycloalkanes. Freezing point: -43.53 ℃, boiling point: 206 ℃ (101.3 kPa), 89 ℃ (1.6 kPa), relative density: 1.129 (20/4 ℃), refractive index: 1.4362.
Main application: γ-butyrolactone is a common solvent and reaction reagent in chemistry. It is also used as an aromatic agent, detergent, cyanoacrylate remover, paint remover and solvent for some liquid aluminum electrolytic capacitors.
